Funding for Multicenter Burn Outcomes Research: Progress Report

A request for funding for a burn multicenter research infrastructure in the amount of approximately $3 million will be submitted for funding from the Department of Defense appropriations by Senator Barbara Boxer.  The Burns Outcomes Infrastructure Project (BORI) provides the infrastructure essential to the conduct of multicenter burn studies. The BORI, under the aegis of the American Burn Association, will provide the leadership, education and infrastructure needed to conduct rigorous multicenter outcomes research and information exchange among researchers, burn care providers and the communities they serve. The goal of the project is to provide the resources for burn researchers from throughout the country to come together and complete multicenter randomized prospective clinical trials to determine standards of care for burn treatment.
