Mark of Distinction. ABA-Verified Burn Centers Set the Standard of Burn Care

The verification process and fees are the same for a burn center seeking Adult, Pediatric, or Adult and Pediatric verification. To obtain dual verification status there must be one burn center director and one administrator of the program.

The re-verification process occurs every three years from the original verification date and is maintained through an annual fee.

Required for Re-Verification:

1) Online Pre-Review Questionnaire (PRQ)

2) On-Site Visit (2 days)

3) Post Review Site Report

This is a non-refundable fee for burn centers seeking verification for the first time.

Required for Initial Verification:

1) Online Pre-Review Questionnaire (PRQ)

2) On-Site Visit (2 days)

3) Post Review Site Report

Assess and make recommendations related to improving burn care at a specific hospital, or to assist a burn program in preparing for an upcoming verification site visit.

Required for a Consultation:

1) Online Pre-Review Questionnaire

2) On-Site Visit (2 days)

3) Post Review Site Report

If after a site visit, it is determined the deficiencies are significant, the Verification Review Committee (VRC) may require an on-site focused review visit in order to confirm the deficiencies have been corrected.

If the correction of deficiencies is determined by the VRC to be able to be satisfied by submitting data or documentation to the ABA Central Office, a focused review may be accomplished without an additional on-site visit.

In the interest of respecting the time of our site reviewers and our verification team, the ABA will be instituting a rescheduling fee for burn center and fellowship site visits (on-site and virtual) of $1000. It requires a significant amount of time, energy, and attention to detail to coordinate site visits. It is of great importance that the burn center or fellowship program provides accurate black-out dates when submitting applications for verification, reverification, or consultations so that we may operate as efficiently as possible.
