This course will provide practical strategies that burn registry professionals can transfer from the classroom back to their burn center. The goal of this course will be to equip burn registrars and burn care professionals with the tools and resources to enhance the quality of data available through the Burn Care Quality Platform (BCQP), cover common medical terminology and ICD10 coding, and provide a deep dive into BCQP reporting functionality.

Designed and appropriate for burn registrars and data managers of all experience levels.

Participants of the Medical Terminology and Basic Pathophysiology for Burn Registrar’s course will learn common medical terminology and basic burn pathophysiology. This course will aid in recognizing common burn terminology used in the medical record, coupled with basic pathophysiology relating to burns which will provide a deeper understanding of the terminology noted in the medical record.

ICD-10 coding class where participants will learn how to code burn specific diagnosis, procedures, external cause index and location for use in the ABA Burn Registry. This course will ensure that accurate data is going into your Burn Registry.

Meeting attendees will receive an in-depth training on how to optimize the BCQP for quality improvement and reporting within their burn centers. Attendees will learn how to compare their data entry with other burn centers, view benchmarking of select variables, and create custom reports for their burn centers.
