What Does a Burn Aftercare Coordinator Do?

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate therapeutic interventions and support groups 

  • Collaborate with hospital teams, volunteers, and community partners

  • Develop program schedules, routines, and outreach plans 

  • Collect and manage program data and participant feedback 

  • Provide education and emotional support to survivors and families 

  • Share insights by presenting or publishing about supportive care

Education and Training Path

  • Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Child Life, Nursing, Social Work, or Chaplaincy 

  • Certifications such as CTRS, Child Life certification, or relevant state licensure (depending on degree) 

  • At least 2 years of professional experience in supportive care or related fields 

  • Ongoing professional development in trauma-informed care and program management
