The ABA Mentorship Program connects professionals at every career stage to learn from one another, build confidence, and strengthen the future of burn care. 

  • Early-career professionals gain insight, direction, and personal support. 

  • Experienced members sharpen leadership skills and give back in a high-impact way. 

Each mentorship is a chance to grow and to help someone else do the same. 

How It Works & What to Expect 

  • Open to all ABA members 

  • Submit a short application + CV or résumé 

  • Mentors and mentees matched based on shared interests 

  • One-year commitment with monthly (or quarterly) check-ins 

  • Start with an introductory meeting and an action plan 

  • ABA provides tools, templates, and check-ins to support the relationship 

  • Program evaluations submitted at the end of the year 

Your application remains on file if a match can’t be made immediately.

Perfect for residents, fellows, early-career professionals, or anyone stepping into a new role and looking for guidance, perspective, and support. 


Apply to Be a Mentee

Requirements: 

  • Active ABA membership 

  • Application and CV or résumé 

  • Commitment to regular meetings (monthly preferred, quarterly minimum)

Responsibilities: 

  • Schedule the first meeting within one month 

  • Create and submit a shared action plan with your mentor 

  • Set up recurring check-ins 

  • Be responsive, prepared, and respectful of your mentor’s time 

  • Send final plan + program evaluation after one year

Who It’s For 

Designed for experienced professionals in clinical care, research, administration, or education who are ready to share their knowledge and help shape the future of burn care.

  • Join an intro meeting scheduled by your mentee 

  • Help shape an action plan and review progress together 

  • Offer support, insights, and resources 

  • Communicate consistently and professionally 

  • Submit a program evaluation at the end of the year

The ABA supports respectful transitions or reassignment to ensure each partnership is productive, professional, and aligned with the program’s values.
