The goal of this program is 1) to promote the academic and personal growth of rising professionals and 2) to encourage experienced professionals to develop leadership skills and strengthen the burn care community through sharing expertise.
Program Details
Process
- Candidates that fit the requirements as stated above may submit an application form.
- The ABA Mentorship Ad Hoc committee will screen completed forms for eligibility, then match mentors with mentees based on their shared interests.
- Mentees and Mentors will be introduced via email, given an action plan template and provided with basic guidance on beginning the mentoring relationship.
- Mentees and Mentors will meet regularly for one year and provide a progress update to the ABA at the end of the program.
- If a match cannot be made based on the immediately available applicants, the ABA will inform the applicant and keep the application on file until a match is made or the applicant indicates that they are no longer interested in participating.
- At times, a match may be imperfect or other challenges may present themselves that prevent a successful mentorship relationship. Either member can respectfully end the relationship by contacting the ABA and either leave the program or request to be reassigned to another mentor/mentee.
